05/12/2010 - Cougars win fifth district championship - The Patrick County High School Cougar Men’s Tennis Team won its fifth straight Piedmont District Championship Wednesday afternoon when they defeated Magna Vista 6-3.  Seniors Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram, Brian Pendleton and junior John Reagan won their singles matches. The doubles pairs of Agee/Cockram and Christian Arnder/Dakota Knight won in doubles.  The Cougars ended the season with a 5-1 record in the district, 13-3 overall.  Patrick County advances to Region IV competition at Va Tech May 25. They have a bye in the first round of competition and will take on the winner of the Southwest vs. River Ridge District #1 teams. Match time is 2 p.m. at the VT Tennis Pavilion.  Because of their district records, Derrick Agee and Drew Cockram will advance to individual regional play the following week. Agee will compete in the Region IV singles finals June 2, while Agee and Cockram will compete in the doubles final. Match times are 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. respectively.

05-11-2010 - Cougars shut out Bulldogs-The Patrick County High School Men’s Tennis Team shut out the Martinsville Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon, 9-0. Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram, Tyler Scales, Jarrod Arnder, Brian Pendleton and John Reagan all won their singles matches handily. Agee/Cockram and Scales/Marcus Wood won their doubles matches 8-2. Freshmen players Christian Arnder and Dakota Knight won their first ever varsity doubles match 8-0.  The Cougars play their final regular season match Wednesday when they host Magna Vista at 4:30.

May 10, 2010 - The district's season will end this week with one scheduled match and two make up matches.  The week begins with a make up match at PCHS on Monday, May 10 against the Bassett Bengals.  Tuesday, May 11 the girls will take on Martinsville at home, which was supposed to be the last match of the season.  The final match of the season takes place at Magna Vista on Friday, May 14.  All matches are scheduled for a 4:30 start time.

05/06/2010 - Cougars take over Piedmont District lead - The Patrick County Cougar Men’s Tennis Team took the lead in the Piedmont District with a win over the Bassett Bengals Thursday evening, 5-4. The outcome came down to the #2 doubles with the Cougars winning 8-4.  In singles play, seeds 1, 2, and 3 came out on top for the Cougars. Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram and Tyler Scales won their matches.  Agee and Cockram put the team in the lead with an 8-0 win at #1 doubles, 4-3. Tyler Scales and Marcus Wood wrapped up the victory with an 8-4 win at #2 doubles.  The Cougars travel to Martinsville Tuesday for a  4:30 match. Their final match is at home against Magna Vista Wednesday when the Cougars will celebrate Senior Day starting at 4:30 p.m.  The Cougars are 3-1 in the district, 11-3 overall.

05/04/2010-The Lady Cougar Tennis team defeated Magna Vista at home Tuesday 9/0.  Winners in singles action included:  Colleen Buchanan, Aubree Touchstone, Amanda Tolbert, Claire Roudabush, Maggie Huff, and Cassie Tatum.  Winner is doubles action included the teams of   Buchanan/Touchstone, Tolbert/Roudabush and Tatum/Jessica Clark.  The team will travel to Basset on Thursday.  Congratulations for a job well done!

05/04/2010-Cougars win over Magna Vista 8-1.  The Patrick County Cougar Men’s Tennis Team picked up its 10^th victory of the season with an 8-1 win over Magna Vista. They are now 2-1 in the district, 10-3 overall.  Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram, Tyler Scales, Brian Pendleton and John Reagan all won their single matches. Agee/Cockram, Scales/Marcus Wood and Pendleton/Christian Arnder all three won their doubles matches.  The Cougars host Bassett Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

04/29/2010-Cougars shut-out Bulldogs - The Patrick County High School Men’s Tennis team beat the Martinsville 9-0 in Stuart Thursday afternoon. They improved their record to 1-1 in the Piedmont District, 9-3 overall. Their next match is Tuesday, May 4, at Magna Vista.

04/28/2010-Cougars Fall in First Piedmont District Match - The Patrick County Cougars men’s tennis team lost to Bassett Wednesday afternoon 6-3. Singles players Derrick Agee and Drew Cockram won their matches while the doubles pair of Brian Pendleton and John Reagan won their match.  The Cougars host Martinsville Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

04/14/2010-The Patrick County Lady Cougar’s tennis team lost to Floyd County 0/9.  Outstanding players for the night were Cassie Tatum, playing the number five seed and Jessica Clark, filling in and playing the number six seed.  They lost their hard fought matches, 3/8 and 4/8.  The girls will take on Martinsville on Thursday at the Cougar Courts at 4:30 pm for their first district scrimmage match for the season.  Come out and support Cougar Tennis!

04/15/2010-Cougars shut out Bulldogs - The Patrick County Men’s Tennis team picked up its second Piedmont District win Thursday afternoon with a shut-out over the Martinsville Bulldogs, 9-0.  Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram, Tyler Scales, Jarrod Arnder, Brian Pendleton and John Reagan all won in singles matches. All three doubles teams won handily.  Christian Arnder and Dakota Knight won their exhibition doubles match 8-0.  The Cougars host Bassett Tuesday and Magna Vista Thursday.

04/13/2010 - Cougars win first Piedmont District match - The Patrick County High School Men’s Cougar Tennis Team won its first Piedmont District match Tuesday afternoon at Magna Vista, 7-2. The Cougars won four singles matches and swept the doubles matches.  Derrick Agee, Tyler Scales, Brian Pendleton and John Reagan each won their singles matches.  The pairs of Agee/(Drew) Cockram, Scales/(Marcus) Wood and Pendleton/Reagan won their doubles matches handily.  Christian Arnder won 8-2 in an exhibition match.  The Cougars host Floyd Wednesday at 4:30 and travel to Martinsville Thursday, April 15.

04/01/2010-The PCHS Lady Cougar Tennis Team lost to at home to Franklin County 0-8. 

04/01/2010 - Cougars slip past Franklin County 5-4;  The Patrick County Men’s Tennis Team edged out Franklin County 5-4 at Franklin County Recreation Park Thursday afternoon. Four Cougars won their singles matches, and the pair of Jarrod Arnder and Brian Pendleton sealed the victory with their win in the #3 doubles match.  Singles winners include Derrick Agee, Jarrod Arnder, Brian Pendleton and John Reagan.  The Cougars next match will be Thursday at home against Floyd County starting at 4:30.

03/31/2010-The Patrick County Lady Cougar’s tennis team suffered their third scrimmage loss of the season when they traveled to Carroll County Wednesday night.  The final score was 4/5.  Winners in singles action included: Colleen Buchanan, Amanda Tolbert and Cassie Tatum.  The doubles team of Cassie Tatum and Jessica Clark won as well.  The team will host Franklin County Thursday, April 01, 2010 at the Cougar Courts. 

03/31/2010 - Cougars fall to Carroll County.  The Patrick County High School Men’s Tennis team lost its second match with Carroll County Wednesday afternoon, 5-4. Derrick Agee and Drew Cockram won their #1 and #2 singles matches as well as their #1 doubles match. Tyler Scales and Marcus Wood won their #3 doubles match.  The Cougars travel to Franklin County Thursday afternoon for a match with the Eagles.

03/24/2010-After losing back to back last week to Grayson County, the Patrick County Girls Tennis team rallied back against Carroll County victorious with a 5/4 win.  The girls are scheduled to travel to Floyd County on Friday, and then to Carroll County Tuesday.    The Cougars will host Franklin County Thursday, April 1 at the Cougar courts.  Come out and support Cougar Tennis!

03/23/2010-Cougars fall in scrimmage against Carroll County.  The Patrick County men’s tennis team lost 6-3 to Carroll County in a scrimmage Tuesday afternoon. Derrick Agee and Drew Cockram won their singles matches 8-3 and 8-1, respectively. The doubles pair  of Agee/Cockram won their doubles match in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-2 tie-breaker).  The next Cougar tennis match is Friday when the men host Floyd County at 4:30.

03/19/2010-Cougars shut out Grayson County.  The Patrick County Men’s Tennis team shut out the Grayson County Blue Devils 9-0 for the second time this week when they traveled to Independence Friday afternoon. Derrick Agee, Drew Cockram, Tyler Scales, Jarrod Arnder, Brian Pendleton and Marcus Wood all won their singles matches handily.  The doubles pairs of Agee/Cockram, Scales/Arnder and Pendleton/Wood also finished a perfect 3-0 sweep.  The Cougars travel to Carroll County Tuesday afternoon for a 4:30 match.

03/17/2010-Cougars open season with a win.  The Patrick County Men’s Tennis team started its season with powerful 9-0 win over Grayson County. The Cougars won three of its singles matches 8-0.  Starting off the winning singles matches was #1 Derrick Agee with an 8-5 win. Drew Cockram, Jarrod Arnder and Brian Pendleton won their matches 8-0. Tyler Scales won his #3 singles match 8-3, and newcomer Marcus Wood won his #6 match 8-6.  Agee/Cockram won #1 doubles 9-7 while Scales/Arnder won their match 8-4. Pendleton/Wood dominated the #3 doubles match with an 8-0 win.  The Cougars travel to Grayson County Friday for a re-match at 4:30.
