PCHS SOCCER

 

05/11/2010-The Patrick County Women's Varsity Soccer team traveled to Franklin County to make up a game from earlier in the season.  Franklin
defeated the Cougars 11-1. Alicia Wilson scored the Cougar goal.  Deleigh Barbour had 12 saves for the night.

05/06/2010-Varsity Soccer-The Lady Cougar Soccer Team traveled to Martinsville and came home with a win, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 2-1. Lizzy Leeper netted the first goal for the Cougars in the second half and Katie Kipreos was not far behind with the second Cougar goal. Madison Gunter had an assist and Chelsea Hardy recorded 10 saves for the night. The Lady Cougar record is now 7-6 overall and 4-3 district.  JV Soccer-The JV Cougars defeated Bassett at home 3-0.  Brittany Joyce scored in the first half on an assist by Hannah Freeman.  In the second half Hannah Freeman scored on a penalty kick and Courtney Campbell scored assisted by Hannah Freeman.  Amber Butler had 8 saves in goal.   The JV record is 3-2.
 

05/04/2010-The Lady Cougars hosted the Magna Vista Warriors. The Cougars defeated the Warriors 4-1. Katie Kipreos Scored the four goals for the Cougars. The first on an assist from Sarah Puckett, the second was a
penalty kick, the third was assisted by Lizzy Leeper, and her fourth goal was on an assist from Gabby Gochez.  Chelsea Hardy had 11 saves in goal. The Cougars PD record is now 3-3 and overall is 5-6. The next game is today at Martinsville.

04/30/2010-The Cougars hosted Bassett tonight. Bassett defeated the Cougars 4-2.  Madison Gunter scored Patrick's only goal. Chelsea Hardy had 4 saves in goal and Deleigh Barbour had 1.  The JV lady Cougars traveled to Bassett tonight and lost 1-0. Goalie Amber Butler recorded 9 saves in goal.
 

04/26/2010-COUGARS AND WARRIORS BOOT TO A 3–3 TIE.  The Patrick County Cougars traveled to Tunstall Tuesday night and left with a 3 all knot. The Cougars record now stands at 2-8-1; 0-3-1 PD. The Warriors got on the board first with a goal by Zach Rice. Just before the half the Cougars tied the game 1-1 when Pierre Scales found the back of the net on an assist from Martin Luna.  Two minutes into the second half Tunstall was awarded a Penalty kick to go up 2-1 after Aaron Escobedo scooted his shot past the PC goalkeeper.  Mid way through the second stanza the Cougars Zach Stone lifted a pass around the Warriors defense to forward Adrian Edwards who fired the ball into the top center of the Tunstall goal for a 2-2 tie.  Around the seventh minute Victor Betancourt intercepted a ball off a poor goal kick by the Cougars and pounded the ball into the back of the PC net from 30 yards out.  In the last minute of play Cougar senior Derek Kendrick moved the ball down the right touchline and dropped a well place cross into the goalie box at the feet of Edwards and the game was headed to overtime tied 3 to 3.  Both overtime periods were played at a very quick pace but neither team was able to score.  Cougar Goalkeeper Gabe Luna recorded 10 saves on 17 Warrior shots while the Warriors Tyler Mathena recorded 9 saves on 15 Cougar shots. The Cougars will be back in action against the Bassett Bengals on Friday night at 7:00 on the Cougars home pitch.

04/26/2010-Patrick County Women's Soccer traveled to Tunstall.  The host team got the win over the Lady Cougars 2-0. The Cougars' record now stands at 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the district.

04/22/2010-The JV Lady Cougar Soccer Team played host to Franklin County.  Franklin County defeated the Cougars 4-0. Amber Butler recorded 8 saves in goal. The JV record is now 2-1.
 

04/20/2010-The Patrick County Women's Soccer team hosted the Martinsville Bulldogs. The Lady Cougars shut out the Lady Bulldogs 2-0.  Sarah Puckett scored first for the Cougars on an assist from Kelli Owens. Katie Kipreos scored later in the first half assisted by Sarah Montgomery. Goalie Chelsea Hardy had 9 saves for the night.

04/19/2010-The Patrick County Cougar women's soccer team played host to the Dan River Wildcats. The Cougars got the win 2-1 over the Wildcats.  Katie Kipreos scored the first Cougar goal early in the second half on an assist from Madison Gunter.  Kipreos also got the second Cougar goal.  Deleigh Barbour recorded nine save in goal. The Cougar record is now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the district. The Cougars host Martinsville Tuesday @ 5:30.

04/16/2010-The Lady Cougar JV Soccer Team traveled to the Smith River Sports Complex to face Bassett for the second time this week. Again the JV Cougars defeated Bassett 1-0. Courtney Campbell scored for the Cougars and Goalie Amber Butler had 10 saves for the night. That brings the JV record to 2-0. They play again on Thursday when they host Franklin County.

04/15/2010-The Patrick County Lady Cougars defeated the Magna Vista Lady Warriors 1-0. The lone goal of the game was scored by Katie Kipreos on an assist by Lizzy Leeper. Goalie Chelsea Hardy recorded 14 saves for the night. The Cougars are now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the district.

 

04/13/2010-The Patrick County Women's Varsity Soccer Team traveled to the Smith River Sports Complex to play the Bassett Bengals. Bassett won the match 5-2. Sarah Puckett and Madison Gunter scored for the Cougars. Chelsea Hardy and Deleigh Barbour combined for 16 saves in goal. The Cougars return to the Smith River Complex on Thursday to face the Magna Vista Warriors.  The Lady Cougar JV team made history tonight. Not only are they the first ever JV women's soccer team, they also came home with a 2-0 win over Bassett in their very first game. Hannah Freeman and Lauren Kipreos scored for the JV team. Amber Butler recorded 10 saves in goal. The JVs will play again Friday at the Smith River Complex at 5:30.

03/30/2010-The Patrick County Women's soccer team lost to Floyd County 4-0. The Cougars travel to Franklin County on Thursday.

03/25/2010-The PCHS Lady Cougar Soccer team lost to Floyd 4-0.  This brings the Lady Cougar record to 2-2.  The Ladies will travel to Floyd on Monday for a rematch.

03/25/2010- The Men's Cougar Soccer Team recorded their first win of the season over Floyd County, 5-2. Pierre Scales scored two goals to lead the Cougars.  Adrian Edwards scored his third goal of the season, Zach Stone recorded a goal and David Dalton provided the assist for Will Hutchens' goal.  Goalie Shawn Kendrick recorded seven saves on nine FC shots while the Cougars had a season high 18 shots on goal.  The Cougars who fell to the Franklin County Eagles on Wednesday night are now 1-3 and will face a rematch at Floyd County next Monday Night.

03/24/2010-The PCHS Lady Cougar Soccer team hosted the Franklin County Eagles and suffered a loss 0-6.  The Lady Cougars next host Floyd on Thursday.  The Lady Cougar Soccer record is 2-1.

03/22/2010-The Patrick County Cougar women's soccer team traveled to Dan River and came home winners. The Cougars defeated Dan River 3-2. Katie Kipreos scored the three Cougar goals. Amber Eutsler had one assist and goalie Chelsea Hardy recorded four saves. The Cougars host Franklin County on Wednesday and Floyd on Thursday.  The Lady Cougar Soccer record is 2-0.

03/17/2010-The Patrick County Lady Cougars hosted Carroll County. The Cougars defeated Carroll 3 - 0.  Scoring for PC were Sarah Puckett, Lizzy Leeper, and Katie Kipreos.  Kipreos also had two assists and Leeper had one. Goalie Chelsea Hardy recorded six saves. The Cougars allowed Carroll only three shots on goal. The Cougars travel to Carroll County on Friday.  The Lady Cougar Soccer record is 1-0.
