PCHS GOLF

Patrick County High School won the Piedmont District Golf Tournament on Monday at Olde Mill Golf Resort with a team score of 328, followed by Bassett with a 329, Magna Vista 333, Tunstall 366, and Martinsville 451.  Bassett won the regular season title.

The Patrick County and Bassett teams will participate in next Monday's Region IV tournament, along with the following individuals; Brandon Grogan-MV, Dillion Craig-MV, Andrew Renton-MV, Tyler Smith-MV, Logan VanAsch-Tunstall, and Justin Kent-Tunstall.

The Piedmont District Player of the year is Brandon Grogan-Magna Vista.

Philip Steagall-PC and Mark Jones-Bassett were named co-coaches of the year.

Patrick County will host the AA region IV tournament next Monday, October 5 at Olde Mill Golf resort beginning at 9:30 am.

09/28/2009-The PCHS Cougar Golf Team place second in the Piedmont District Regular Season.  Patrick County High School will host the Piedmont District Golf Tournament on Monday, September 28 @ Olde Mill Golf Resort starting at 9:00 am.  PCHS will also host the AA Region IV Golf Tournament on Monday, October 5 at the Olde Mill Golf Resort starting at 9:00 am.

09/24/2009-The golf team defeated Tunstall and Martinsville while losing to Bassett and Magna Vista.  Will Hutchens lead the Cougars with a 79, Parker Heath and Wendall Hutchens 82, and Brain Pendleton 84.  The Cougars finished 2nd in the Piedmont District for the regular season with a round of 19 & 6.  The Cougars will play next Monday in the district tournament.

09/21/2009-The golf team defeated Carroll County yesterday 169-182.  Brian Pendleton lead the Cougars with 40, Parker Heath 41, Jake Harris and Will Hutchens 44.  The Cougars are now 17& 4

09/15/2009-The golf team defeated Franklin County to improve their record to 15 & 4.  Parker Heath won metalist with a 80.  The Cougars next match is Thursday with Carroll County.

08/25/2009-The Patrick County Golf team remained in 2nd place in the district shooting 310 at Lynwood Golf course.  Brian Pendleton lead the Cougars with a round of 73, Parker Heath 75,  Will & Wendell Hutchens 81.  Coach Steagall commented on his team's effort, "Parker and Brian both played very good rounds in the match."  The Cougars are 9 & 4 on the season.  Their next match in next Tuesday at Tunstall.

08/18/2009-The PC Golf Team finished 3rd in the district meet at Bassett.   Parker Heath shot 85, Brian Pendleton shot 86, Will and Wendell Hutchens 88.  The Cougars are in 2nd place in the district with a record of 7-2.

08/13/2009-The PCHS Golf Team hosted an all-district meet at Gordon Trent Golf Course and won by three strokes over Bassett, 298-302.  Magna Vista trailed the winners by eight (306); Tunstall was nine more strokes (315) behind and Martinsville placed fifth with a 425.  Brian Pendleton scored a 72, Will Hutchens 73, Parker Heath 75, and Wendell Hutchens 78.  Coach Steagall commented after the game, "A very solid round of golf today.  All of our golfers did well."

08/10/2009-The PCHS Golf Team visited Floyd County and won 332-369.  Parker Heath scored a 76, Brian Pendleton and Will Hutchens both scored 85 and Wendell Hutchens scored an 86.  "It was a good win for us.  Parker played a great round of golf today on very fast greens,"  said Head Coach Philip Steagall after Monday's match.
