Pre-season Interview with Head Coach Stephen Biedrycki

Congratulations to Austin Burkhart and Caleb Smith-They are going to State Cross Country Tournament next week-end!

Congratulations to Girls Cross Country- Carlin Witt 3rd, Victoria Hutchens 4th, Haleigh Wilson 5th, Kelsey Rakes 6th, Madison Gunter 7th and Boys Cross Country Austin  Burkhart 2nd, Martin Hutchens 3rd, Caleb Smith 5th, Austin Bryant 14th, Larry Parker 22nd.  The teams are coached by Stephen Biedrycki and Nelson McConnell.  Coach Biedrycki was named Boys and Girls Coach of the Year!

10/30/2009-Unofficially, the PCHS girls and boys Cross Country teams won the District Tournament.

09/30/2009-The Cross-Country team had an outstanding showing at Bassett.  The boys took 3rd with a strong showing from Austin Burkhart and Caleb Smith.  Martin Hutchens delivered a good run, and Austin Bryant sits on the bubble 1 place away from the top 15.  The girls won there second straight district event with Carlin Witt, Victoria Hutchens, Haleigh Wilson, Amanda Edmonds, Sarah Perry, Roxie Martin, Jennifer Dalton and others establishing themselves as the team to beat. Congratulations to all involved.  The team travels to Greensboro Saturday.

09/23/2009-Your Cougar Cross Country held it home event yesterday at Fairystone State Park.  All District teams were represented.  The boys took third place - facing an improved Martinsville squad (1st) and a consistent Bassett team (2nd) place.  The Cougars had 4 finishing in the top 15.  Austin Burkhart was the Cougars highest finisher at 5th, followed by Martin Hutchens 12th, Caleb Smith 13th and Larry Parker 15th.  The Lady Cougars turned in a dominating performance, having 10 finishers in the top 15.  The girls had a near perfect score of 22 beating Bassett who had 45 and Magna Vista who had 92.  The squad was lead by Carlin Witt taking second overall followed by Victoria Hutchens 3rd, Haliegh Wilson 4th, Madison Gunter 6th, Amanda Edmonds 7th, Roxie Martin 10th, Alana Rogers 11th, Sarah Perry 13th, Jennifer Dalton, 14th and rounding off the top 15 was Brandy LewisThe team heads to Bassett next Wednesday for another inter-distict meet.  Race time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

09/16/2009-The Cross-Country Team kicked off "District Competition" with an outstanding showing!  The girls took second to Bassett with one place making the difference.  The boys beat all the district teams.  Kicking off the district season with 1st place showing.

09/12/2009-The Patrick County High School (PCHS) Cross Country team traveled to Winston Salem, NC this weekend to attend the Salem College Cross Country Invitational.  The boys team finished 7th out of 15 teams.  Taking top honors for Patrick County were Austin Burkhart finishing 11th, Martin
Hutchens finishing 36th, and Caleb Smith rounding off the top three PC finishers at 46th, out of 161 runners.  In the girls race, Carlin Witt finished 2nd, Victoria Hutchens finished 8th, and Haleigh Wilson rounded off the top three with a 15th finish, out of 127 total runners.  The girls captured 3rd place out of 13 teams competing.  Coach Biedrycki said he was "extremely pleased with the performance of both teams", and is looking forward to upcoming events.  The team travels to Martinsville this Thursday for their first District competition.  Race time is 5:30 p.m.
 

09/05/2009-The Patrick County Cross Country team traveled to Christiansburg to compete in the 19th annual Blue Demon Invitational.  28 schools with over 650 runners competed, including the top teams in the state.  In the boys varsity event Austin Burkhart finished 24th out of 148 runners.  Caleb Smith finished 68th and Larry Parker 78th topping PC's 3 best finished.  The boys team finished 13th overall - 1 place better than their district rival Bassett.  In the girls varsity event Carlin Witt finished 16th while Victoria Hutchens finished 33rd and Kelsey Rakes finished 56th in a field of 106 runners.  The girls finished 9th - 1 place better than the district rival Bassett.  In the boys race Alex Turner finished 43rd while Alex Krammer finished 72rd and Devin Goins rounded off PC's top three with a 77th finish., with 107 runners.  The team finished 12th overall.  The girls JV found Natalie Mitchell topping PC's best finish with a 37th finish with Gracen Witt the 57th spot and Tristian Holt rounded off the top 3 with a 65th finish.  There was 103 runners total.  The girls JV team took 8th overall.  The team travels Saturday to Winston Salem for their next race.
